"I've caught this magical landscape and it's the enchantment of it that I'm so keen to render. Of course lots of people will protest that it's quite unreal, but that's just too bad."
We have always loved the impressionist paintings' accurate depiction of light in its changing qualities. There is nothing more beautiful than the feeling of enchantment you get every single time a Monet, Renoir or Degas - for example - comes before your eyes. It's a unique feeling, almost like your heart skips a beat and you forget to breathe for an instant. Impressionist paintings are more like photographs, it is an art of immediacy and movement, of candid poses and compositions, of the play of light expressed in a bright and varied use of colour. This fascination with impressionism determined us to see nature in a completely different manner and it has contributed a lot to our way of approaching photography.
