Road Trip

Monday, August 30, 2010

Hi there!
It's been a week or so since i posted anything interesting here. Been out of town, in fact i went to Iasi (the second largest city in the north-eastern part of Romania).
Honestly i was rather disappointed with this whole trip mostly because i had higher expectations of the whole thing. Before i even got there i had in my head a pretty well-structured idea of what i wanted this post to look like.
But the reality came out rather different.

The whole city gave me a suffocating, dusty sensation, because of all the new constructions. Also the old ones, tourist attractions were under renovation so i didn't get to see much of the history of this city.

I think Iasi is a beautiful city, but it didn't awe me in any particular way. I don't know, i am going to blame my painful wisdom tooth for that.

* I'm wearing F21, Asos sandals and Boohoo floral leggings.

I'm wearing Gina Tricot jeans, jelly flats from boohoo.com, and everything else is vintage/thrifted. Oh, and the ring is a present from my parents.

September Issues

Sunday, August 29, 2010

What can one do on a cold (I can finally say it.. COLD) Sunday evening, during the last summer weekend?

My plan is to watch The September Issue - good time for that, isn't it? :P-, drink a cup of hot, hot tea and then cuddle in bed and read Kafka on the Shore. I hope this autumn is going to be long, sunny, a little bit rainy and most of all : unforgettable.

P.S: Outfit post tomorrow.

Bye bye, summer!

Blueberry Mania

Friday, August 27, 2010

I was  thrilled when I arrived home and my parents told me they'd bought fresh blueberries. I just adore blueberries. Of course, I like to eat them plain or put them in my yogurt, but this time I had to use them for something more elaborate. So I had two alternatives: blueberry muffins or blueberry pancakes ... well not THAT elaborate, really. I finally decided to make pancakes (it was my first time). And they turned out yummy.

Hello Kitty loves blueberries, too.

I topped them with raspberry and strawberry jam, and a few fresh blueberries.

I know, the shape's not perfect, but they tasted delicious.
Recipe from Joy of Baking ( I added a little cardamom in the batter, because it tastes great)

Vivienne Westwood Shoes

37 years of breaking rules, defying gravity and constantly pushing foot fetish boundaries. Vivienne Westwood transformed shoes into cult objects.

Vivienne Westwood Shoes: An Exhibition – 1973-2010 supported by Melissa takes place at Selfridges this month. Oh, how I wish i was in London.

As stated on the official facebook page:
"Westwood’s designs are a result of considered and distinctive influences - 16th Century Dutch Delft pottery as the inspiration for her 1996 Toile Print Boot, British colonialism reflected in the Sahara Plimsoll of 1999, Victorian dandyism influencing the 1996 Trompe l’Oeil Boot and Westwood’s nurse inspired 15.5 centimetre heel Mary Janes of Erotic Zones a salute to S/M and fetishism".

One of the focus points of the exhibition are, of course, the Vivienne Westwood for Melissa  shoes, a selection from her four season partnership with the brand. These little rubber beauties have already become must-haves for every fashion girl. My personal favourites are Globe Heeled Slingbacks, the Zen Girl Heart Front Flats, the peeptoe flock flats and the Matt Wax Seal Slingbacks. Which I'd buy if i weren't broke.

Oh, and I almost forgot. What can be better than the Dita von Teese for Melissa campaign?

Noruwei no mori

...that means Norwegian Wood  - the title of a well-known novel written by Japanese author Haruki Murakami.

Norwegian Wood is actually a classic Beatles song, that touched the life of  Toru Watanabe, the main character of the novel. The melancholy of this tune is present throughout the entire story. Being one of my favourite books, I was thrilled to hear that it was going to be made into a movie. And so far,  I am extremely pleased. The movie stills are absolutely beautiful, and so is the trailer. The imagery, the characters,  the music, the overall feeling...

The release date is going to be December 2010 in Japan. I am veeery eager to see it.

The afternoon train

Tuesday, August 24, 2010

Today I took another lovely walk in the park , I visited a fancy neighborhood and I went to an oldschool pastry shop where I ordered a raspberry parfait (which means perfect in French and is some kind of a creamy frozen fruit/choco/vanilla icecream). In case you are wondering, yes, I do have a sweet tooth.

And this is what I wore:

Skirt and tee from F21, bag from Bershka, Converse sneakers and my cute new leopard print socks.
