Hidden Histories Of London
More than most popular cities in the world, London is known for its history. Sites like Westminster Abbey, the Houses of Parliament, Buckingham Palace, and the Tower of London speak...
I recently came back from a lovely trip in Austria & Hungary (mainly Vienna & Budapest) & one of the highlights was the visit to Melk. I must admit I didn’t do any research regarding what I could see outside of Vienna prior to this. My bf wanted to go to the Mauthausen Memorial and on our way there by car, while admiring the landscapes, I noticed an amazing palace-looking building shining in the sun above a quaint-looking town. I looked it up and immediately decided that I want to take a closer look, so when we returned from the Memorial we stopped in this adorable town called Melk, well-known for its 18th century baroque abbey.
Unfortunately, when we arrived there it was already pretty late and we also stopped for a bite, so when we went up to the Abbey it was already closed. However, we did manage to take a few quick photos. I was super disappointed that I did not get to see the interior and the gardens, but I definitely need/want to go there again. Well, at least we managed to walk around a bit & enjoy the town ^_^ . So If you’re planning a trip to Austria, definitely add Melk to your list, it’s about 80 km from Vienna.
