Dior-inspired ribbon sweater DIY

Dior-inspired ribbon sweater DIY

The Dior Fall ’10 RTW Show was mesmerizing. Of course it was, we’re talking about Galliano here. What caught my eye, besides those amazing state-of-the-art overknee socks, were the two ribbon knitted oversized sweaters/coats. Those looked just amazing, and very diy-able, as well.

It was so good that I found the perfect sweater for this project.
I realized this from the moment i set my eyes on it.
I didn’t need much stuff, just some ribbon ( I used 2,5 metres for this, I think) in a nice pastel colour, a hairpin and a pair of scissors.
And then using the hairpin as a needle, I “sewed” the sweater with the ribbon. I guess I should’ve bought wider ribbon, to amplify the effect and really make it look like the Dior one.

You can use as much ribbon as you want. I kind of stopped, because I ran out of ribbon, but I’m definitely going to add more. This is the final result:

Yes, I know, it’s not that spectacular, but I did get a lot of compliments for it :).

What’s your opinion, would you try this DIY?
