The Lady and the Fox

The Lady and the Fox

“Sometimes since I’ve been in the garden I’ve looked up through the trees at the sky and I have had a strange feeling of being happy as if something was pushing and drawing in my chest and making me breathe fast.

Magic is always pushing and drawing and making things out of nothing. Everything is made out of magic, leaves and trees, flowers and birds, badgers and foxes and squirrels and people.

So it must be all around us. In this garden – in all the places.”

― Frances Hodgson Burnett, The Secret Garden

I love foxes! And this time I don’t mean the band, but the actual cute fluffy red-furred animal. Not sure how all this obsession really started but I partially blame Wes Anderson and Antoine de Saint-Exupéry for it. If I start to think about it really hard, I guess that before Fantastic Mr. Fox there was another movie, in my early childhood days, a Romanian one, named Veronica, that truly nurtured this fascination. The movie told the story of a little girl that gets lost in the forest and has all sorts of funny adventures. There she meets a fox lady, a very stylish one I may add, that gets Veronica in all sorts of trouble. That particular depiction of a fox, has made quite a strong impression on me and will always be one of my favorite characters growing up. Looking back now, I think that fashion wise I can see some similarities :)).

So tell me guys cuz I am curious, what is that character that made a huge impression on you as a child and ultimately cultivated some later obsessions?
