Vintage Shopping in London
On the day we went to visit
Highgate and
Waterlow Parkย we figured that since we were already in North London, we should go to Crouch End, as well, as we’d heard about a couple of really interesting vintage shops located there. So we took the bus
not knowing that at the exact time the kids from a nearby school just finished classes, and so the bus was paaacked with chattering children ย and got off at Crouch End. If you’re planning on going there let us know, and we’ll give you more detailed instructions ๐
The first shop we went to was
Scarlet Rage Vintage , a beautifully decorated boutique with tons and tons of amazing pieces, from vintage lingerie to stunning 50’s dresses and all sorts of shiny accessories (including designer shoes). I was in love with the powdered pink boudoir pieces and the leopard-print coats. It appears that Lady Grantham wore on of their dresses in a recent episode of Downton Abbey, how amazing is that?
Next on the itinerary was
Painted Black, just down the road from Scarlet Rage . They carry super cute retro dresses and accessories and also vintage home decor. I tried on a few things and finally decided on a soft pink 50’s dress that you will soon see in a post.
Of course, our trip wouldn’t have been complete without a visit to a candy shop ^_^ . There’s nothing better than beautifully-packaged treats for sweet-toothed people like us and Dandy Candies turned out to be just the perfect place for indulging our guilty pleasures.
I also got two books from a charity shop we came across: Collecting the 1950’s (tons of inspiration) and The Bloody Chamber by Angela Carter. The hairpins are from Scarlet Rage, I couldn’t have left empty-handed, could I? Oh, and those violet creams you see below are the best sweets ever invented: floral goodness coated in a layer of dark chocolate..I just wish I’d bought more :P.
All in all, this was one of those perfect days that you wish would have lasted longer. There are more cute shops in Crouch End, we just didn’t get the chance to visit and photograph all of them, as we were in a hurry, but we would definitely recommend exploring this part of London if you have the chance.

I so love the red vintage dress on the display window. Anyway, you’ve got great tips here and there’s just so much stuff to buy over there. I think i would have a hard time deciding which to buy if i were there. I love the small vintage tv by the way. Vintage stuff are really awesome, whether it’s clothing or vintage chair. I love vintage clothing.

Ok, wow. Amazing stuff! I hate it when I go abroad and don’t make time for visiting such extraordinary places. This is like a museum of fine arts :). I can’t wait to see the dress you bought! It seems really special!
Hugs! Have a wonderful weekend!
