Wandering in Wonderland: Portobello Road

Wandering in Wonderland: Portobello Road

Sometimes I wonder if wandering through Wonderland will make the Wanderlust wander away. But in the meantime I would just like to wander off in search of wonderful places full of wonder and magic.

When it comes to London, there is no surprise that I keep finding new and exciting places to visit each time I come back. On this occasion, counting that it was my birthday and all, we decided to spend the day like old times, going to vintage markets and to the famous Portobello Road area.

To be completely honest, it was an old dream of mine to see the famous pastel-painted houses and indulge in some vintage jewelry shopping. So this time, the weather was just perfect, sunny and warmer than expected for this period. I mean, sunny in October, in London and on my birthday, that right there is one heck of a present. On the other hand, the shopping experience was pretty disappointing; no original pieces and apart from some Doctor Who goodies that I’ve acquired, everything else was quite dull.

After all that walking (make sure you bring your comfy shoes, because London requires a lot of that), we’ve finished the day in Greenwich, another favorite place of mine, *insert Thor/Loki reference here*, with a stop at Jamie’s Italian, where we had some amazing burgers and an incredible cheesecake that I absolutely recommend.

So if you wonder about which wonders your wanderer soul should choose, look no further than London and its infinite options. Like Samuel Johnson once said: “When a man is tired of London, he is tired of life; for there is in London all that life can afford.”
